PRODUCTIVITY STUDY OF ACPA MEMBERS

Goal

To help The American Concrete Paving Association (ACPA), its members, and the concrete paving industry become more productive, profitable, and competitive. Research has shown that while producers can take proactive actions to improve their competitiveness, their productivity is also affected by its external operating environment. As a result, our goals are two-fold: (1) determine mechanisms for ACPA contractors to be more productive and profitable; and (2) outline for state DOTs the steps that they can take to allow ACPA members to be more productive and cost efficient. To do so, we are aiming to survey and collect data from ACPA’s members. This data would include (1) detailed cost reports for each project and (2) aggregate annual information such as revenue, capital investments, company ownership, etc. Any collected information will be stored on a secure server and will be kept entirely confidential. The collected data will not be disseminated to the larger public.

Study benefits

The results of this study will lead to:

  • An internal report for participating ACPA contractors that provides insights around ways to improve productivity rates and reduce production costs.
  • A bulletin report for state DOTs highlighting the impact of their choices on the productivity of ACPA contractors.
